The short version

What we know about you

When you just read the site

Our website keeps a short list of visits. That list helps us keep the site working. It also helps us spot someone trying to break in.

Every device that visits has a number. It works a bit like a return address on an envelope. We do not keep that number. We change it into a jumble of letters first. Nobody can change the jumble back into the number. It lets us see when the same device comes back again. It does not tell us your name. It does not tell us where you live.

We also use a few cookies. A cookie is a small file a website saves on your device. Most websites use them. None of ours are for ads:

We do not use Google Analytics. We do not use any other counting service like it.

When you make an account

Making an account takes one step. You give us an email address. We email you a six-digit code. That address is your account.

After that you only add what you want to. You can add your name. You can add a phone number, so a group leader can call you. You can tell us which part of town you live in. That helps us match jobs to people close by.

You do not need a password. You can make one if you like. If you do, we never keep the password itself. We keep a jumbled copy. Sign-in codes work the same way. So even if someone stole our files, they still could not sign in as you.

Things we never ask for and never keep: your street address, your birthday, a Social Security number, a driver’s licence number, or a bank or card number. When you give money, our payment company handles it. Your card details never reach this site.

When you fill in a form

Some forms ask if you want to help, or ask us for help. We keep what you typed and which account sent it. That way staff can act on it. You can see it later too.

We block junk mail robots in three ways. There is a hidden box that people never see but robots fill in. There is a check that the form was not sent too fast. If those two go off, we ask a simple math question. We do all of this ourselves. No other company watches you fill in the form.

Who can see it

Our own staff and helpers can. They only see what their job needs. It all stays on this site’s own computer.

There is one time we do share, and we will not pretend otherwise. You can ask us to introduce you to a group leader. You can also send a message to one through us. When you do, we give that leader your name and your email. We give them your phone number too, but only if you checked the box for it. That is the whole point of an introduction. It only happens when you ask. It only goes to the one leader you picked.

Flying M Studio runs more than one website. We keep them apart. We never copy email lists from one to another. Signing up here does not sign you up there. An account here is not an account there.

We never sell anybody’s details. We never rent or trade them. We do not give them to ad companies. We only hand them to someone else if the law makes us.

Where it is kept

Accounts and forms live in one file on this site’s own computer. You cannot reach it from the web. Only the site itself can open it. Putting a new version of the site online never touches it. We make a copy every night and keep it 14 days. We keep one locked copy somewhere else too. That way a broken computer is not the end of the story.

How long we keep it

Different kinds of records follow different rules. Here are the ones that matter to you.

WhatHow long
Your account, if you ask us to delete it We hide it right away. We erase your details within 30 days.
An account nobody uses We write to you first. Then we take your name off it after 3 years.
Your name on a job we finished 90 days after it was done. Then we take your name off it.
Sign-in codes and links A few minutes. We throw them out a day after they stop working.
What our emails to you said We wipe the words 30 days after sending. We keep a note that we sent it.
A note that you said yes or no to our emails We keep this for good. It shows you gave us permission. It also stops us adding you back by mistake. Once your account is gone, the note holds a jumbled copy of your email, not your real one.
Our safety records 3 years
The list of visits to the site Not long. Your device number is only ever in it as a jumble.

One honest note about deleting. We erase your details from the live website right away. But we still have last night’s copy. Those copies go away after 14 days. We also swap out the locked copy the next time we update it. So “deleted” means gone from the website at once. It means gone from our copies soon after. We would rather tell you that than promise more than we can do.

Getting a copy, or having it removed

You can download everything we hold about you. You can also ask us to remove it. Both are on your data. That page says just what goes, what stays, and why.

You can change which emails you get from your account. You can stop all of them at once there too. Every email has a stop link at the bottom, and it works even if you are not signed in.

Kids

Accounts are for people 13 and older. We ask how old you are when you sign up.

If you tell us you are under 13, we do not keep the account. We erase it. We do not just lock it or hide it. The law does not let us keep what a young child typed. We do not email you, and we do not ask you anything else.

If you are 13 to 17, we ask for a parent or guardian. We ask for their name and a way to reach them. We write to them one time to say you signed up. If they ask us not to write again, we do not. This ends on its own at the end of the year you turn 18.

If this page changes

If we change how any of this works, we change this page too. The date at the top changes with it. If it is a big change and we have your email, we will tell you. We will not leave you to spot it.

Asking us about any of this

Write to info@flyingmstudio.com. A real person reads it. Do you think we hold something we should not? Tell us. We would rather hear about it than leave it sitting there.
